We designed this course to teach fundamental skills to the supervisor/manager. This class presents practical skills that attendees can take with them to multiply their effectiveness in accomplishing their goals through others. Although marketed to energy professionals, the course material applies to almost any industry.
Most supervisors are promoted to this level because they are great workers. But supervisors can no longer rely solely on their expertise to get the work done. They must now approach their new job completely differently by teaching and motivating their groups. Supervisors that fail never learn to make this transition. Becoming a good supervisor requires developing leadership skills that are sometimes counter intuitive to workers. Staying consistent, while recognizing your people's differences, can be the most challenging part of this new role.
In this course, attendees will learn how to deal with people and all their differences. They will learn about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses and how to play to those strengths. Supervisors need to work within their own personality styles to have the best chance of success. This interactive class will give participants the opportunity to observe leaderships skills that best fit their styles.
Participants will also learn the top ten negotiating skills as well as tips that can greatly improve both written and verbal communications. Other tools of effective leaders presented include proper motivation, the power of the words "yes" and "no" and better ways to make crisp decisions.
